Hello TGP Community,
On February 12, 2025, the TGP Board of Directors decided not to appeal the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) decision regarding the non-renewal of our charter. As a result, The Gathering Place will close at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
Over the last month, our community has engaged in a series of actions to ensure our students, caregivers, and staff are supported and cared for during this time. They include:
Continuing to engage students in important and meaningful learning opportunities.
Sharing an Enrollment Resource Guide that positions caregivers to learn about school options and identify what is most important in a school.
Providing individual support from our team to ensure every child has a best fit option.
Sharing weekly updates on school tours and experiences around the city via our Weekly Caregiver Transition Communication document that is distributed on Fridays.
Providing networking and job support opportunities to our staff as they navigate the next steps in their professional journey.
As we look ahead to the last few months of the school year, we want to ensure that key information and updates continue to be shared with you. Key information to keep in mind includes:
The last day of school for all students is Thursday, May 29, 2025.
All records will be shared with every caregiver no later than June 23, 2025. After this date, records may be obtained from Region 13 by calling 512-919-5313.

Caregivers of students in Special Education inquiring about extended school year services may contact our campus administration and/or the Special Education Co-Op by emailing specialeducation@thegatheringplacek12.org.
As we embark on this transition, please know that our priority remains to provide a strong and supportive learning environment for your children through the end of the school year. Our teachers, staff, and leadership are committed to ensuring that your children continue to have access to the resources and opportunities they need to grow and succeed.
Please do not hesitate to contact either of us with any questions or requests. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and trust as we navigate this transition together.
With appreciation,
Brian Sparks, Superintendent
